About
Promoting First Relationships
Promoting First Relationships (PFR) is an evidence-based program that supports caregivers in understanding and nurturing their children's social and emotional development. PFR providers equip caregivers with practical strategies to foster secure attachment and healthy relationships with their young children (birth to 5 years).
Foundation for Early Development
PFR recognizes the critical role of early, positive interactions in shaping children's emotional organization, attention regulation, and communication skills. By focusing on the pivotal relationships with their first caregivers, children establish the groundwork for growth across social, emotional, behavioral, language, and cognitive domains.
Cultivating Secure Attachment & Exploration
Through encouraging, collaborative reflection on caregiver-child interactions, PFR providers empower caregivers to cultivate sensitive, secure relationships with their children. By promoting caregivers' confidence and competence, PFR aims to create environments where children feel safe to explore, learn, and develop trusting, caring relationships with others.
