Independent Living Program
The Independent Living Program (ILP) began serving Skagit County Foster Care youth in 2000 and expanded in 2001 to include Whatcom, Island, San Juan and Snohomish counties. Youthnet also serves other at-risk youth by county, private, or tribal contract. Our philosophy is a mentor based program individualized to each youth and is community based. During the intake process the youth is assessed, goals are created with youth, family and staff input, then an individualized plan is created and put into action.
ILP supports youth with assistance in the following areas:
Transitional and permanent housing
Money management and budgeting
Health-hygiene
Transportation
Resume assistance and job referral
Educational planning
Interpersonal skills
Pregnancy prevention
Parenting & childcare
